University of Arizona microbiologist Dr. Charles Gerba collected 328 samples in office buildings across America from cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, Tucson and San Francisco. What was surprising was where the most germs were found.

Dr. Gerba’s study showed that the average desk harbors 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat! The researchers found that bacteria levels continued to climb unless desks were wiped clean with a disinfectant.

The study was Funded by a grant from the Clorox Company and concluded that germs were higher in personal work areas than surfaces in common areas.

With the average workweek now 47.1 hours (according to the Families and Work Institute), employees need to get up to speed on office hygiene. If you turn on the TV, listen to the news or surf the Internet, it is hard not to hear about the latest health scare: H1N1 virus, otherwise known as “Swine Flu”.

We really don’t need to be in a panic about Swine Flu but, let’s face it, there are always bacteria viruses and flu germs around. Important Oils Tip!

When buying essential oils always look for labels that
state “genuine & authentic” or “Grade A.” Most people think the
words, “Pure” or “100% Pure” on the label indicate the oils are
good. This is just not true. Price is usually a good
indicator of quality. I have seen lavender oil for $5.00 and
rose oil for $10.00. It takes around 5000 pounds of rose
petals to make 1 pound of rose oil. If you see rose oil for
under $100.00. It is not pure rose oil.

Much more is involved in therapeutic grade oil than just the
purity. If they are not properly distilled, they won’t be

Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and contains compounds that have been studied for their effects on immune function. According Jean Valnet, M.D., the vaporized essence of lemon can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria. Lemon oil has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles. It promotes clarity of thought and purpose, as well as health, healing, physical energy, and purification. Its fragrance is invigorating, enhancing, and warming.
