With all the stress we face every day we can easily find ourselves feeling bad and reaching for a snack. Do you ever find yourself falling into a habit of emotional eating to deal with the stress?
I learned something interesting this morning that helped make a connection in my brain. I happened to be listening to the Today Show. There was a segment on how your personality could contribute to weight gain. They mentioned how stress raises cortisol levels. We knew that but here’s the thing I didn’t realize: When your cortisol level is high, you start craving carbs.
Here’s another interesting thing . . .
Did you know that eating sugar and starchy carbs raise your cortisol levels even higher?
So as cortisol goes up, it increases carb cravings, and after indulging in starchy or sugary carbs, guess what else follows suit with it? Depression. This contributes to the vicious cycle of emotional eating.
This information really got me excited. Recently I learned that Young Living’s Stress Away Roll-Onwas especially useful to help with stress related eating. I have been using Stress Away in the afternoons and evenings ever since I learned about that. I have noticed that, when I use Stress Away I have a much easier time resisting the urge to have a snack. Now hearing that bit about cortisol levels this morning really reinforced my intent to keep using Stress Away.
I’m enjoying a cup of Slique tea and rolling on a bit of Young Living’s Stress Away as I write this blog post. It has been a strangely stress filled day today and I am thankful for these new products from Young Living. Have you tried the Slique Tea? Oh MY!! I love the taste. It’s yummy!
You attract more of whatever you focus on with emotion. If you spend a lot of time thinking and feeling stress about things you don’t like about yourself, you actually create a block to changing it.
I used to feel I didn’t want to accept myself the way I am because I have pounds to lose and I felt that if I accepted myself as I am, that would make me not want to release the excess weight. So I fought it all the way but what I didn’t realize is that when I put all that negative energy into something I hate, I actually make it harder than ever to release the weight.
The subconscious is a funny thing. When you can accept things as they are, you have a more peaceful approach to things you intend to change. The emotional blocks disappear. This is an issue I have struggled with because it is easy to slip back into negative emotion over things I don’t like. It is also the reason I made up and EFT tapping sessions on this very issue.
The EFT Sessions below were originally part of the 30 Day Self Esteem Challenge on on my other blog. I use Acceptance oil blend for both of these EFT tapping sessions but you could also use other oils in rotation. I also use Release oil blend for the tapping session on Releasing Negative Self-Image.
I recommend doing these sessions multiple times. It can be a deep seated emotional issue and may take several rounds of EFT.
Procrastination is one of the biggest problems with weight loss. We get stressed out and we reach for our favorite comfort food. Other things are more important today we’ll exercise tomorrow.
Doing some EFT for procrastination may be helpful if you have this problem.
Put a couple drops of Motivation oil on your fingers and start tapping the EFT points starting on the Karate Chop Point while saying:
Even though I can’t stop procrastinating, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I don’t feel like exercising, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I don’t feel like exercising, deeply and completely love and accept myself.
